Amanda & Jason Headrick 10.01.2022
On Oct. 1st, 2022, Amanda and Jason had the most quintessential fall “backyard” wedding of my dreams! Their day was certainly one of my most favorite and memorable weddings!
First of all, Amanda and Jason were honestly such a wonderful couple to work with. Their story is one where they met online while she was road tripping and things just took off from there.
They experienced long-distance dating, house projects, the pandemic, losing loved ones, and blending their family all within a couple of years before tying the knot.
I was actually nervous that I wouldn’t “do their day enough justice”. But there was such an overwhelming amount of love and support on their wedding day, I simply could not stop snapping away (especially during the speeches)!
Being able to experience this beautiful day for such a deserving couple was an honor.
A Lakes Region “Backyard” Wedding
A & J’s day began with her getting ready at her parent’s house where the ceremony would be taking place. When I arrived, she, her sister, best friend, and step daughter were getting ready in her old bedroom. Jason got ready where he was staying at and he arrived an hour later.
Amanda’s mother helped her into her dress and had her pick out “something blue” from her jewelry box which I found touching. My favorite part was photographing Amanda stand next to the family height chart that was documented on a thin wall. My goal was to incorporate the feeling of “home” as her late father built the house.
When Amanda was ready, we made our way to the back of the house to do their first look. As you can imagine, it was very precious. They not only did private toasts to commemorate their special day, but Jason also did a first look with his daughter who was the flower girl. It was just absolute sweetness!
Shortly after, guests started to arrive and it was time for the two of them to hide away in the house before the ceremony. In total there were roughly 80 guests, and they all had a perfect view overlooking the foliage and the mountains for the ceremony spot. Amanda had her grandfather walk her down the aisle, and her and Jason kept the wedding party smaller with just a Maid of Honor (her sister) and a Best Man (Jason’s best friend). Amanda also had her best friend as the officiant!
They exchanged vows in perfect October weather with the sun beaming down on them. From there, they got to walk down the aisle as a family of three!
The festivities for the reception took place at Amanda’s grandparents’ estate on the lake. But before the guests traveled over, Amanda and Jason got to travel in style in one of her grandfather’s beloved antique vehicles!
The rest of the evening was just so beautifully done. We took our time with family portraits as well as taking their portraits together.
The decor for the table scapes were some of the best that I’ve ever seen. In fact, the tables were set up in old boathouses and her mother designed and made most of the benches and tables!
The vibe for the evening was very much a romantic camp-like setting. There was a campfire by the lake, friends and family were chit chatting while playing lawn games, and they had a food truck (Up Street) that offered the yummiest food. I tried the apple chicken sandwich and it was soo good!
The evening ended with the most heartwarming speeches by the best man and especially the Maid of Honor (Amanda’s sister). Many were left in tears about the wonderful things that both had to say not only about Amanda and Jason, but her father as well. Although he could not be there physically, his presence could be felt throughout the day.
A & J had a remarkable wedding day and I’m so honored to have even been considered as their wedding photographer! Thank you for letting me be included for such a special moment in your life!
